Nurse Clinics

Our nurses are trained to provide a wide range of services, e.g. immunisations, wound care and cervical screening. Pam is also a trained family planning nurse.

Diabetic Clinic

Nurse Joanna Griffin

All diabetics who are not regularly monitored at the hospital will be invited to attend this clinic on a regular basis. Progress should be carefully monitored to reduce the long-term risks associated with diabetes, such as heart disease and deteriorating eyesight.

Asthma & Spirometry Clinic

Nurse Rachel Kemp & Seema

We have a trained asthma nurse who holds regular clinics. Regular monitoring of asthmatics is recommended and you are advised to make appointments at the clinic.

Coil Fitting

This service is available at Purton Surgery only. Ladies considering a coil need to see a GP initially to confirm suitability. It is the important to have some routine swabs 2 weeks before fitting.

Implant Fitting

This service is available at the surgery. Ladies considering a contraceptive implant need to see a GP initially to discuss suitability. 

Baby Clinic

A Child Health and Immunisation clinic is held every week at Purton Surgery.

Health Visitor

Our Health Visitor provides a service to promote physical and mental health to families with young children by providing advice, information and support.  You can contact the Health Visitors on 0300 247 0090.

Community Nurses (District nurses)

The community nurses provide nursing care for people who are housebound.  You would need to speak to a Doctor if you need to be passed on to the District Nurses.

Community Midwife 

If you are newly pregnant, please go to the forms section of our website to self refer to the community midwives. If you need to speak to a midwife, they can be contacted at the Community Midwifery Department at The Great Western Hospital on 01793 604020.

Travel Vaccinations

If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

 

Non-NHS Services

Patients should be aware that fees are charged for non-NHS work. These include private certificates, some travel vaccinations, insurance reports and medicals, employment and HGV medicals etc.

Fees are charged in accordance with BMA guidelines. Please ask at reception for details.
